Standard Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions before you join. They set out what Recover My Ride’s motorcycle roadside recovery covers, the limits that apply, and your responsibilities as a member.

Here it is formatted exactly as requested. I’ve made Your Membership, What We Don’t Cover, Important Information, and Privacy Act 1988 H3 headings. Every other section title is bold only. I’ve also corrected the heading formatting that was inconsistent in the supplied text while keeping the wording/content intact.

Your Membership

Your Membership services & benefits will become effective 48 hours after the receipt of Policy payment. Your Membership must be current to utelise our service & callouts within the 48 hour waiting period will not be covered.

24/7 On Road Rider Support & Recovery

Our experienced Motorcycle Roadside Recovery team is available to you 24/7. If you need support with your bike just contact us at our in house call centre on 1800 767 766. We’ll ask for some details to help us quickly locate your Policy; get your location (street address & suburb) & then get on with the job of getting our roadside team out to you.

National Coverage
All Policies offer National coverage – including Tasmania – in Metro; Regional & Rural locations, including from your home address or a safe location.
Recovery in National Parks or State Forests is not covered under Policy (please refer to Adventure Riding).
Recovery is not available if the motorcycle breakdown is deemed to be in a remote location – being outside of a Metro; Regional or Rural location (please refer to this map).

Emergency Fuel Delivery

Our Motorcycle Roadside Recovery teams can carry between 5 to 10 litres of emergency fuel (unleaded petrol only). We will deliver sufficient fuel to enable you to get to the nearest service station. The cost of the supplied emergency fuel will be at the Member’s expense – payable to our service team on arrival. If emergency fuel delivery cannot be arranged your Policy will cover you for towing to the nearest service station.

Your Policy does not cover you if you have put the wrong fuel into your motorcycle. Towing arrangements & responsibility will be at the Members expense & payable at the time of recovery.

Jump Starts & Battery Replacement Service Option

In the case of a dead battery, you have several options. A simple jump start if the battery is accessible & just flat; towing into your repairer if the battery is not accessible or you suspect the bike may have an underlying issue affecting charge, or a battery replacement service option (in most areas). Our team will test the battery prior to replacement to ensure that it is the issue. The cost of a new battery is at the Members expense & payable to our service team on arrival & our team will take away & dispose of your old battery as well.

If a jump start is unsuccessful the member can exercise another callout for towing.

Our team will ask you to remove either the seat or panel so that the battery is exposed & ready for charging or replacement.

That Pesky Flat Tyre

Your Policy covers your bike for towing into a repairer in the event of a flat tyre. We do not inflate or do puncture repairs roadside due to safety concerns.

Towing

Towing is covered for all your mechanical failures & flat tyres.

Metro Locations: You have 25km towing covered.

Regional & Rural Locations: You have 50km towing covered.

If your motorcycle needs to be towed further than your towing entitlement allows, the cost will be the responsibility of the Member or Rider payable at that time.

Once a callout has been provided for a breakdown, any subsequent callouts arising from the same breakdown will be provided at the member’s expense payable at the time of the callout. For example: towing for a motorcycle that has been towed after hours to the member’s home & subsequently requires further towing for the same breakdown.

The Policy covers 1 callout per breakdown.

Callouts

Members have 2 callouts per year. Once both callouts have been used the Policy becomes void.

If there are any unused annual callouts they cannot be carried forward into the following year.

Unexpected mechanical breakdown

Roadside Recovery is provided in the event of an unexpected mechanical breakdown. It does not cover motorcycle maintenance or permanent repairs. Temporary repairs may be at the request of the member to mobilise the motorcycle (where able). However, regular maintenance or mechanical repairs, major or otherwise, is the members responsibility and will be at the members’ expense.

Recover My Ride does not cover breakdowns caused by conditions that existed prior to the commencement of membership. Any failure that occurred prior to the commencement of your membership will be at the members expense and payable at the time the service is provided.

We will attempt to transport all passengers with the motorcycle, provided that each person can be legally transported in the tow truck. In the event that we are unable to transport all passengers we will assist in organising alternative transport, such as a taxi at the member’s expense.

What we Don’t Cover

Motorcycle Roadside Recovery does not cover you for an Insurable Event & is not a substitute for Motorcycle Insurance.

Examples of Insurable Events are: accident (regardless of whether a second vehicle is involved); impact (regardless of what you hit); dropping the bike or malicious damage – please call your Insurance company for these matters, they can arrange towing & issue claim numbers for repair work.

As an emergency Motorcycle Roadside Assistance service, cover does not apply for the following:

  • a motorcycle that is unregistered or deemed to be un-roadworthy
  • a motorcycle that has been used in a motorcycle race track event
  • a motorcycle with extreme modifications from the manufacturer’s original specifications
  • a motorcycle having been used or tested in preparation for, or participation in any, form of motor sport
  • a motorcycle already at a repairer
  • a motorcycle that is partly or fully dismantled or on which repairs have been attempted by anyone (including a licensed mechanic) or has a pre-existing failure or breakdown
  • a motorcycle where the towing has not been arranged by us
  • a motorcycle that has been involved in or suffered damage as a consequence of an accident (regardless of who is at fault), flood, theft or attempted theft, fire or malicious damage
  • a motorcycle which has been modified in ways that in our view increase the possibility of it sustaining damage during towing or in ways that make damage-free towing difficult
  • any parts, labour or other costs related with the repair of the motorcycle
  • any financial loss or liability, however sustained, occurring from or in any way connected with a breakdown
  • any freight cost
  • agricultural ATV’s, trial, motocross or competition motorcycles

Adventure Riding

Our Policies cover Adventure Riding – subject to the below terms:

  • For collection your Motorcycle needs to be on a main road (whether tar or dirt) in a serviceable area (ie Regional or Rural locations). Remote locations are not covered (refer to National Coverage).

  • Roadside recovery is not able to take place in an off road location.

  • Towing is for mechanical failures or flat tyres as per Policy terms & conditions.

Electric Motorcycles

Electric motorcycle coverage extends to towing for any unforeseen failures such as – indicators; drive belts; electrical issues; electric motor failure; flat tyres & any issues such as wheel bearing failure.

If the Electric motorcycle has not been charged sufficiently & you request to transport the bike home or to a repairer to charge the battery system, this will be at the members cost.

Changes to your plan

For Policy queries or to make changes to your plan you can log on to our member portal or call us on 1800 767 766.

Cancellations & Refunds

Membership Fees paid to Recover My Ride are not refundable if a callout has been exercised on the Policy. If no callouts have been exercised, a Pro Rata refund can be processed. Membership is not transferable to another person.

Important Information

Your motorcycle must be registered to you & in a roadworthy condition.

When calling in for recovery in the event of a breakdown, we will ask you for your details (mobile number; name or rego) to locate your Policy & the location (street address & suburb) & details of the breakdown (whats happened to your bike). Providing correct location details ensures we get our team out to you as efficiently & as quickly as possible to minimise any delay to you.

Only current members outside of the 48 hour waiting period will be covered. If our service team cannot locate you due to incorrect information you have provided, the service cost will be invoiced to you.

In the event that excess towing charges apply (you need to be towed further than your Policy covers or you wish to go further than the closest motorcycle repairer) you will be advised of the cost & it will be payable to our call operator prior to dispatch.

All Motorcycle Roadside Recovery benefits covered by your Policy are to be arranged by our 24/7 RMR team. You will not have towing or any recovery covered or reimbursed that you have organised yourself.

For car owners – Roadside Recovery is applicable where the weight is less than 3.5 tonnes gross & the length of the vehicle is less than 5.5 meters.

There may potentially be rare instances where Recover My Ride is unable to assist you. In such cases your membership fee will be refunded in full.

We all know that a vehicle breakdown is an unforeseen event & a massive incovenience in our day & some of us handle it better than others ! However, service may be declined to a member who has behaved in a rude or aggressive manner to any of our lovely staff members (who are just here to help you) or our service teams (a great bunch of people just trying to get you back on the road). Should an unfortunate incident like this happen we may, after investigation;

  • Decline services to the member for this breakdown
  • Decline to have the member renew their Policy
  • Void the Policy

If a jump start fails you can exercise a second callout (should you have callouts left) for the same breakdown. Otherwise, it is one callout per breakdown.

Fair Use – this means that if you keep requesting the same service for your bike on a repeated number of occassions ie: repeated jump starts because you havent replaced the battery or sorted your charging system issue you may be denied service.

If you have used your allocated callouts for the year your Policy then becomes null & void & renewal will be required to receive continued coverage.

Unused callouts will not be carried forward to the following year.
